Reno, NV.  In his play: Happy Birthday, Wanda June, Kurt Vonnegut finds a powerful vehicle for his tragicomically imagination. It is a social comedy about men who enjoy killing—and those who don’t.

The Plot:  Odysseus comes home to the unexpected … including a cake.  After 8 years in the Amazon jungle, soldier of fortune Harold Ryan, with his sidekick Col. Looseleaf Harper, returns home...on his birthday...only to find that his fourth wife Penelope has had him declared legally dead, is engaged to a peace loving doctor and dating a vacuum cleaner salesman. As only Vonnegut could tell it, Ryan must face the truth about his wife, his son and himself. Along the way, Wanda June, a Nazi Major and Ryan's third wife illuminate the situation.  Vonnegut's attack on phony heroes and male swagger uses some of the funniest dialogue ever created for the stage.

Happy Birthday, Wanda June opens with a post-show opening night champagne reception and appetizers from the Wild River Grille. The show runs weekly Thursday through Sunday through February 4, 2017. Evening shows begin at 8:00 pm (Artist night is Wednesday January 25A, 2017.  – ALL TICKETS are $10 for Artist Night.)
