Reno, NV - Monday, September 9, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM.  Brüka Theatre will hold open auditions for the 27th Season. We hope you will come to the theatre and share your talent with Brüka and our community.   

General Information:  Sign up for a slot online at “signupgenius.com” or contact Brüka for an online invitation.  Email: boxofficebruka@gmail.com or call 775-323-3221. You will need to leave an email address.

The day of the audition:  please enter Brüka from the side-door entrance on First Street.  The waiting area is upstairs. You will be ushered downstairs at your scheduled time. We want to utilize your time the best we can, so please check in at least ten minutes before your scheduled audition time.  If you have not signed up for a slot, you may sign up on the evening of the audition if there are any openings.  

Actors will be seen by the directors of this season productions in groups of five.  Prepare one to two monologues (preferably contrasting monologues if you choose to do more than one).  The maximum time is two minutes total for each audition. Reminder - You will be timed and stopped at two minutes.  Please dress appropriately - and please no flip-flops! Please bring your current resume and a photo.  

You will be auditioning for our 2019/20 shows scheduled November 2019 - July 2020.  Callbacks will be held at a later date. We are also looking for technical people and volunteers for our season - if you are interested in helping in these areas - please send an email to our box office and volunteer manager Holly Natwora at boxofficebruka@gmail.com or call: (775) 323-3221.

PARKING - We NO LONGER validate parking at the Parking Gallery on First and Sierra Street.   We also suggest convenient parking in the Court Street parking lot across from The Pioneer Theater and walking across the new Virginia Street Bridge to Brüka FREE after 5:00 PM. 

 Brüka Theatre is located at the corner of First and Virginia Streets in evolving downtown Reno next to the Virginia Street Bridge.  Our box office is open Wednesday through Saturday. The EIGHTH annual Biggest Little New Works Festival at Brüka Theatre is seeking submissions for original theatre pieces showcasing traditional and nontraditional performances, as well as original plays appropriate for readings/workshopping.  We are a small festival, to date, featuring local and regional performers and performances in our downtown Reno space. 

Submissions/Acceptance   SUBMISSION FORMS
$20 fee for consideration in the festival.   Submission will be selected based on quality, innovation and the ability to meet the mission and expectations of the theatre and the festival.  The fee is a non-refundable processing fee.  We will accept up to FIVE different plays for staged readings on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We are also looking for directors to direct staged readings if needed. We will also accept up to four different plays/performance pieces for full performances on Saturday and Sunday night.  Shows selected/not selected will be notified by email by September 15, 2019.

Show requirements for full performance plays  (Saturday and Sunday)
Pieces must be 60 minutes or under.  Set up/Strike time is 15 minutes in 15 minutes out.  Shows should have their own Stage Manager/Cast/Crew/Director.  The cast should not exceed EIGHT people. The show should have basic light/sound cues that can be achieved in our downstairs space.  The light set up will suitable for all shows to work with without re-focus. Each show will receive one tech/dress in the space. The rest of the rehearsals should take place in an alternative space.  If the play is licensed, the performing groups must obtain and pay for licensing fees prior to the performances. Groups will receive 20 % of the door after $100. All show tickets are $10 per person admission. If you are doing a reading - please inquire if directors have submitted to work on a play-reading.  

Show requirements for readings (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
Pieces can be one acts to full length shows.  Saturday and Sunday will include “stage readings”.  Shows should have their own Stage Manager/Cast/Crew/Director. Play readings are in a workshop format and will have an opportunity for audience feedback after the reading. Groups will receive 20 % of the door after $100.  All tickets are $10 per person admission for performances. All readings are $5 per person admission.  

Participant Information

-Participants will have the opportunity to workshop their readings after each performance with audience discussion. 

-Full Box office services, house volunteers and a technical director to supervise your technical person or run or place an operator for the simple tech for your show.

-Volunteer opportunities to view other shows in the festival where available or ½ off tickets to other festival shows for participants.

-Inclusion in our festival program, promotion on our website and Facebook page.

Seeking Play Submissions for The 25th Season at Bruka Theatre



Brüka Theatre is seeking PLAY SUBMISSIONS for the Season 25 - 2017/18 at Brüka Theatre. Submissions are open from January 15, 2017 - February 15, 2017.  
Our goal is to review the proposals for the best match to Brüka and our mission and reach out about the proposals in March/April 2017.  We aim to have our season announced by May of 2017.  It is our 25th season . . . we want to celebrate the artistry of Brüka, the city of Reno the artists, creators and the community. We are open for new ideas, great works and conversation. A confidential committee led by The Producing Artistic Director will review plays.  

Producing a full season of dynamic theatre requires great investment of time, money, trust and teamwork. Most of all it takes ingenuity, courage and passion.  Our goal is to create a place for this passion to have a canvas.  For our seasons, we choose a theme to work around.  For our 25th we are playing with the theme of "Serendipity".  That could change in accordance with the submissions, the times we live and the art of adjustment.  We hope you will read through the submission form carefully.  Submit your resume of experience and consider sharing your artistry with Brüka Theatre and the community.  Feel free to send any questions through to marybruka@gmail.com.

For the Audition:  Please prepare one - two contemporary (contrasting) Monologues.

AGE RANGE:  Looking for actors ages 10 and up for roles in this season.

Please note - there are a couple of roles for actors and actresses under 18. Please know that the subject matter is mature in the plays and there is graphic language.

This is a season audition.  All shows will have a callback specific to the needs of the show.  (Including the musical.)
